Performance Day of the Dead at Paradiso

LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE OF NINE RAIN ACCOMPAINING EISENSTEIN'S CLASSIC FILM QUE VIVA MEXICO! AND LIVE PERFORMANCE OF "LA DENTONA" BY Dimension4 Theatre with ALEJANDRA NETTEL en IRENE DE BRUIN

Doors open 20.30hrs, program starts 21.00hrs.

Cinemaztlán has invited the underground Mexican band Nine Rain for a unique show in the Netherlands to celebrate the Day of the Dead on 1 November in Paradiso. The multitalented musicians -among which the band includes Steven Brown of the legendary avant-garde band Tuxedomoon- mixes traditional and experimental music. At this occasion the band will play live the soundtrack it has composed for Sergei Einsenstein's film Que viva Mexico! For this event, Cinemaztlán join forces with Rocket Cinema for a memorable night.

This special occasion will include a full program of special acts, among which are: traditional poems, a collective altar, a performance of La Dentona by Dimension4 Theatre with actress Alejandra Nettel & Irene de Bruin and a representation of El Mictlán (the Aztec underworld). This day is also the closing event of Rocket Cinema, so get the dress code and immerse yourself in full Day of the Dead.

Note on dress code: La Calavera Catrina is the Mexican icon for elegant dead. The word catrina is the feminine form of the word catrin, which means elegant. La Catrina has become a staple of Mexican imagery. She wears a long fasionable dress (1910-1920), a hat with feathers and flowers and a boa. Her companion on this night of the dead is a dandy. een hoed met veren en bloemen en een boa.
