Fotoshoot / Sesión Fotográfica

Alejandra is regelmatig aanwezig bij haar studio (centrum Amsterdam) voor het maken van professionele maar vooral betaalbare castingfoto's / portreten. De focus ligt hier op een zo 'natural' mogelijke look. Producenten en regisseurs stellen het namelijk op prijs een zo realistisch mogelijk beeld te krijgen van de acteurs/actrices die door Casting bureaus aan hen worden voorgesteld. Na de shoot maak je samen met Alejandra een selectie. Op dezelfde dag of binnen een week ontvang je dan ongeveer 30 foto's op CD. Kosten: € 80,00 excl. 19% BTW (te voldoen voor of op fotodag). La Asociación “España – América Española” en Ámsterdam tiene el placer de invitarlos a la conferencia: “Un recorrido por la historia del teatro en México” impartida por Alejandra Nettel. Actriz y antropóloga teatral.
Se hablará del teatro prehispánico y de los periodos más importantes del teatro en México, así como de la repercusión que la representación teatral ha tenido en la sociedad mexicana.

Cinemaztlán has invited the underground Mexican band Nine Rain for a unique show in the Netherlands to celebrate the Day of the Dead on 1 November in Paradiso. The multitalented musicians -among which the band includes Steven Brown of the legendary avant-garde band Tuxedomoon- mixes traditional and experimental music. At this occasion the band will play live the soundtrack it has composed for Sergei Einsenstein's film Que viva Mexico! For this event, Cinemaztlán join forces with Rocket Cinema for a memorable night.

This special occasion will include a full program of special acts, among which are: traditional poems, a collective altar, a performance of La Dentona by Dimension4 Theatre with actress Alejandra Nettel & Irene de Bruin and a representation of El Mictlán (the Aztec underworld). This day is also the closing event of Rocket Cinema, so get the dress code and immerse yourself in full Day of the Dead.

Note on dress code: La Calavera Catrina is the Mexican icon for elegant dead. The word catrina is the feminine form of the word catrin, which means elegant. La Catrina has become a staple of Mexican imagery. She wears a long fasionable dress (1910-1920), a hat with feathers and flowers and a boa. Her companion on this night of the dead is a dandy. een hoed met veren en bloemen en een boa.

La instalación es una recopilación de fotos que representan las diferentes imágenes que en México se utilizan para representar a La Muerte / La Dentona / La Flaca / La Catrina y de fotos de personas que hablan de La Muerte.
Nettel entrevistó a varios artistas, periodistas y personas dentro del mundo de la cultura y la ciencia de diferentes nacionalidades, pidiéndoles que dieran una respuesta, de no más de un minuto, a la pregunta: ¿Qué es la muerte para ti?
Juntos, las fotos y el audio dan una visión al peatón de lo que La Muerte podría ser.

El 10 de noviembre Nettel dará una introducción de la instalación y del día de los muertos a las 18:00 hrs. después puede quedarse a disfrutar de una cena vegetariana, para reservar un lugar para cenar puede llamar al 020-6790712 entre las 14:30 y 18:00hrs.

“My dead, The Dead”

The installation is a compilation of photos which represent the different images used in Mexico for The Dead, also called La Catrina / La Dentona / La Flaca; the installation has also photos of people talking about The Dead.
Nettel interviewed various artists, journalists and people within the culture and science world from different nationalities, asking them to give an answer of no more than 1 minute, to the question: What is dead for you?
Together, the photos and the audio, gives the viewer a slide vision of what The Dead could be.

On the 10th November Nettel will give an introduction to her installation and about the Day of the Dead at 18:00, afterwards you can stay to enjoy a vegetarian meal. For the meal you need to reserve at 020-6790712 between 14:30 & 18:00 hrs.

Tashi Norbu will make a Tibetan ceremony as opening of the exhibition, followed by an auction.

“Tibet, 50 years o resistance” Women portraits is a view to generations of Tibetan women that have been leaving in the exile for the last 50 years.

March 2009 marked a series of highly sensitive anniversaries in Tibet. The Tibetan population in Mc Leod Ganj, Dharamsala, made different political and artistic actions to commemorate the 50 years of resistance.

On 10 March was the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising of March 1959 when more than 86,000 Tibetan men, women and children were slaughtered after taking to the streets to demand an end to Chinese rule, and the Dalai Lama was forced into exile in India.

Fifty years ago, Tibetan women often uneducated and without political experience, spontaneous rose in defiance of tyranny. As the Chinese solidify their occupation over 15,000 women assemble on March 12, 1959, speaking out for peace, justice and freedom in a non-violent expression of resistance.

Fifty years later, the struggle continues and the Tibetan women continue to step forward, meeting each challenge with resilience, faith and dedication.

Fiftieth Anniversary provided and opportunity to showcase not only Tibetan women and Tibetan cause, but the empowerment of women globally.

“Het eind van de zomer” is een collectieve tentoonstelling door zeven kunstenaars uit verschillende landen. Alle zeven hebben eerder werk in Nederland geëxposeerd.
Elke kunstenaar, met een eigen techniek, heeft vanuit het thema “Het eind van de zomer” een selectie gemaakt van hun werk. Deze selectie kunt u zien in Jerry’s Café.
De expositie is mogelijk gemaakt door Dimension4 Theatre.


“Het eind van de zomer” / “El fin del verano” es una exposición colectiva con siete artistas provenientes de diferentes países. Los siete han expuesto anteriormente su trabajo en Holanda.
Cada artista, con su técnica y tomando como punto de referencia el tema “El fin del verano” hizo una selección de su trabajo que puede ver en Jerry’s Café.
La exposición está organizada por Dimension4 Theatre.

Een performance-ritueel ter viering van de lente

Maandag 13 April 12.00 -13.00 Westerpark (start: vanaf het centrum 1e brug van de haarlemmerweg naar westergasterrein)

Naar aanleiding van het paasfeest zal Dimension4 Theatre, een performance-ritueel uitvoeren in het Westerpark. Al in verre tijden terug vierden diverse culturen de terugkeer van de lente op verschillende manieren. Deze feesten omvatten onder andere rituelen die nauw verbonden zijn met het land en de oogst en het succesvol slagen van nieuwe projecten.

In Europa bestond voor het intrede van het christendom, de viering van Ostara, de godin van de vruchtbaarheid. Haar naam heeft zij te danken aan de zon die opkomt in het Oosten, ook bekend als Ishtar. Licht overwint de duisternis en nieuw leven wordt geschapen.

Dimension4 Theatre is een transcultureel theaterlaboratorium, die zich als doel heeft gesteld deze rituelen te achterhalen en ze op een theatrale manier in onze tijd tot leven te brengen. Toeschouwers worden uitgenodigd deel te nemen aan de viering van het nieuwe leven. Dit performance-ritueel wordt uitgevoerd door de actrices Alejandra Nettel en Irene de Bruin , oprichters van het transculturele theaterlaboratorium in Nederland.

Voor wie wil: schrijf een wens op en breng deze mee. Neem instrumenten mee en uw lunch. Als afsluiting van het performance-ritueel kunnen we een picknick houden (als het weer ons dit toelaat)

Un performance-ritual, una celebración a la Primavera

El lunes 13 de abril de las 12.00 a las 13.00 en el Westerpark (punto de partida: viniendo del centro, en el 1er puente de Haarlemmerweg que es la entrada al westergasterrein)

Dimension4 Theatre va a presentar, con motivo de la Pascua, un perfromance-ritual en el Westerpark. Diferentes culturas desde épocas milenarias han celebrado la Pascua de diferentes formas, incluyendo rituales que están intimamente ligados con la cosecha, dar vida y empezar nuevos proyectos. En Europa ya existía, antes de la llegada del cristianismo, la celebración a Ostara, la diosa de la fertilidad. Su nombre tiene relación con el sol que aparece en el este, también conocido como Ishtar. La luz gana sobre la oscuridad y sale para dar vida, empezar o continuar...

Dimension4 Theatre es un laboratorio teatral transcultural, que tiene como meta rescatar éstos rituales y llevarlos a nuestros días de una manera teatral, invitando a los espectadores a participar también dentro de ésta celebración - ritual a la vida.
El performance será realizado por las actrices Irene de Bruin y Alejandra Nettel, fundadoras de éste laboratorio teatral transcultural en Holanda.La cita es el próximo lunes 13 de abril a las 12 horas en la entrada del Westergasterrein.

Pueden llevar un deseo escrito, instrumentos musicales y su lunch ya que al finalizar, si el clima lo permite, haremos un picknick como cierre del ritual - performance.

My collaboration with ¿Qué es picante? consisted in presenting photos from the serie "Even Zitten", printed in 1,60x and used as decor of the evening; also I presented the video-performance Gosumy Electronics as an Avatar.

An exceptional cultural dinner under the intriguing title 'What is Spicy' will be held in the Kunsthal cafe in Rotterdam on December the 6th, 2008.

"What is spicy?" will be an informal evening of visual arts, music and culinary arts, and has been inspired by the gastronomic side of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Her passion for life and pleasure of the senses were expressed in the dinners she organized. At the same time "What is spicy?" aims to help the weakest social section of Mexican society, children in need, by supporting the international foundation Children of Mexico. Part of the ticket sales revenues will be donated to this foundation. Fitting in with Que es Picante further donations can be made for Children of Mexico.

"What is spicy?" will include the performances of artists with differing styles and techniques. Some will explore electronic arts, new technologies and conceptual art while others combine and fuse the rich Mexican and Latin traditional art forms. All of the artist are of a high level and come together for the first time in Holland linked by friendly relationships, a commitment to the social initiative of Children of Mexico and their passion for artistic creation. The Frida Kahlo theme and Mexico will be linked to the art and performances by a lecture, and during a lottery the winner of a trip to Mexico will be drawn. The evening has been organized by "La seduccion del Gusto" and the BABEL foundation for art and cultural diversity.

This project has attracted the attention and support of institutions and companies such as the Mexican Embassy in the Netherlands, Aeromexico, the Kunsthalcafé [onderdeel van de Vermaatgroep BV.], Laloberinto Art&Design, Baby Phat Benelux and Patrick Paludanus, Xerox.
